A
neglected Wolverhampton industrial estate is getting
a major makeover courtesy of British Business
Parks.
BBP has
been working with Wolverhampton City Council, the Black
Country Chamber of Commerce and Industry and support
agency Business Link to develop the Bilston Road Business
Area to its fullest potential.
The
site has been neglected for some time leading to problems
with crime and vandalism thathave in turn, starved
the area of investment.
But
these are familiar conditions for BBP,
which specialises in revitalising sites such as this
for the benefit of local communities.
The
Industrial area has now been re-named “Metro
Business District” and a strong group of businesses
are working with all the agencies to implement a number
of key improvements.
A
Masterplanning and design guide is currently being
undertaken that will be the “vision” for
the Metro Business District and all businesses are
being consulted for their “wish list”.
Anthony
Harris of Harris Glass said: “Businesses
consider security to be the major problem while inadequate
signage makes it difficult for clients and customers
to find their way around.”
“These
are difficult but not insurmountable problems and
through our work with Wolverhampton City Council,
British Business Parks and most importantly our Business
Park Co-ordinator we can ensure that this key employment
site continues to provide much needed employment
in Wolverhampton”.
“By
working with our partners and with the commitment
of local businesses significant improvements can
be made which will provide a real confidence boost
for the area.”
